The Guardian Newspaper highlighting service charge problems in blocks of flats and overcharging by freeholders and management companies. Article One – “Sack Your Property Manager”, Article Two – “Leasehold – A Battle to Fight and Win”. Both of these articles start from the premise that all property management companies are bad, from our experience whilst there are some bad apples their are a good number of high quality managing agents and freeholders.
In fact whilst right to manage companies may appear to be a good thing in practice we find they often result in nothing happening to the building and that they exist to minimise the service charge only to the long term structural detriment of the building and leaseholder. We also noticed bout Property getting in on the act at “Leasehold v Freehold”
We really like the hand-drawn maps at The Londonist, its worth having a click around to see what’s there. Image below described as – “For the first time in this series, we head south of the river to good old New Cross. Reader Rosanne Elkins-Bushnell offers this definitive guide to the area”
